Here’s Our Monday starter:
And then some positivity for Us. Because this makes me laugh. And to keep with our theme, no sense in being blue. (Yes…this is a bit random.)
Now on to our real blog topic, and the connection to some movie trivia. Especially if you like the Shawshank Redemption. (I don’t think there is ever a time that it’s not on television, on some station. Right?) The trivia is really also a bit about persuasion, because they made us believe in name, for no reason.
Stephen King wrote the novel that the Shawshank Redemption movie was based upon. In that story, the character of Red was an Irish-American character, with a description of having reddish-gray hair.
As the director was determining who he should cast for the part of Red, they contacted Robert Duvall and Gene Hackman. Neither actor was available. The producers at Castle Rock suggested Morgan Freeman for the part, and the director thought Freeman was a great idea; even though he clearly did not fit the original description.
They still called the Freeman character Red, as an inside joke. During the movie, main character Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) asks why people call him Red. Freeman’s response, “Maybe it’s because I’m Irish“.
It’s going to be a great Monday!
And for our pic o’ day…
