Drug Reactions
Seroquel Side Effects
Schizophrenia drug
Seroquel, the popular schizophrenia drug, has been linked to a higher incidence of diabetes. Data from a recent medical conference in Philadelphia showed patients on Seroquel had 33.4 times as many cases of diabetes as those on older antipsychotic medications.
Seroquel has been linked to a high incidence of type 2 diabetes, hyperglycemia and other blood sugar disorders. Data from a 2003 study, reported at the international society from pharmacoepidemiology conference, suggests that patients taking Seroquel had 33.4 times as many cases of diabetes as those on older antipsychotic drugs. The FDA issued a Med Watch safety alert concerning the increased risk of hyperglycemia and diabetes in patients taking Seroquel.
Seroquel has also been linked to pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is a dangerous inflammation of the pancreas. The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes into the small intestine that help digest fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in food. The pancreas also releases the hormones insulin and glucagon into the bloodstream that help the body use the glucose it takes from food for energy.
The Joel Bieber Firm is currently evaluating potential Seroquel lawsuits. If you believe you have suffered an injury from this prescribed medication, please fill out the form below which will help start the process for our Seroquel lawyers.
