 The Joel Bieber Firm Scholarship

The Joel Bieber Firm recognizes that education beyond the high school years can play a key role in a young person’s personal growth and eventual career success. The Joel Bieber Firm encourages and supports the pursuit of higher education; and there for is pleased to offer The Joel Bieber Firm Scholarship, available to the communities in which we do business in Virginia.

The scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year were awarded to three outstanding individuals: Sieu Tran, Jordan Dabney and Sarah Toney. We have enjoyed getting to know these students through their applications and different correspondences and recently received the following updates:

Jordan Dabney attends Christopher Newport University and is soon to declare a major in Medicine. He is keeping busy with his school work and intramural sports. He loves that CNU is so small and he can get to know everyone.

Sieu Tran is studying Math at Virginia Tech and plans to add Biology as a second major. He is a part of the Honors program and is hoping to study abroad in Switzerland.

Sarah Toney

Sarah Toney is loving her time at Virginia Commonwealth University and her studies in Pre-Nursing. She is involved in many activities including the Rowdy Rams, Students Today-Alumni Tomorrow, and is a volunteer with the Sexual Assault and Violence Education Team.

Dear Mr. Bieber:

Thank you very much for your recent contribution of $30,748 to the United Network for Organ Sharing. This very generous gift covered our cost of television advertising during March and April’s Donate Life Month campaign. We are very grateful for your individual involvement as well.

Your interest, commitment and compelling personal experience has helped enable UNOS to increase education and awareness of organ and tissue donation throughout the metro Richmond area. For that we are truly grateful.

Again, we thank you for your generous support of UNOS’ mission to save as many lives as possible through organ transplantation. We wish you the best of health with your “new” kidney.

James Carroll Flippin Professor of Medical Science

Dear Mr. Bieber:

Thank you for your gift to the University of Virginia School of Medicine. As you requested, your contribution will support the myotonic muscular dystrophy research of Dr. Mani Mahadevan. On behalf of the School of Medicine and the patients who will ultimately benefit from your generosity, I offer my sincere gratitude.

Private support is an invaluable source of funding for medical research. Your gift will provide Dr. Mahadevan the latitude necessary for immediate response to new modes of thought and new technologies. For that reason, your contribution may expedite his research and bring new medical miracles to the world with greater speed.

Again, thank you for your support of biomedical research excellence at the University of Virginia.
