DO I HAVE A CASE?

A Selfie and A Story

Today’s blog starts with a selfie, because Monday blogs sometimes need an attention grabber. Then, on to a story:

A store had a sign in the window that advertised Puppies for sale. The little boy walked into the store, because he wanted a dog. He walked up to the owner behind the counter and pulled out some change from his pocket. “I have $3.67,” he said. “Can I please see the puppies?”

The shop owner smiled, knowing that the puppies cost way more than that, but he whistled for the dogs. Out from the kennel came the mother dog, Lady; who ran down the aisle of the shop, followed by five tiny balls of fur. One of the puppies was lagging far behind the others. Immediately, the little boy asked the owner, “What’s wrong with that pup?”

The shop owner explained that the veterinarian had said that the little puppy had a hip defect and would always limp. The boy immediately exclaimed, “That’s the puppy I want to buy!”.

The shop owner said, “No, you really don’t want to buy that puppy. Plus, they all cost a lot more than you have. But, if you really want him, I’ll just give him to you.”

The little boy got very upset. He looked into the store owner’s eyes and pointed his finger at him and said, “He’s worth every bit as much as the other dogs. I’ll give you what I have, and pay you every month to pay off the rest“.

Again, the owner told him that, “You really don’t want to buy this little dog. He is never going to be able to run and jump and play with you like the others.

That’s when the little boy reached down and rolled up his pant leg to show his badly twisted, crippled left leg that was supported by a big metal brace. Then he looked back at the shop owner and softly said, “Well, I don’t run so well myself, and that little puppy will need someone who understands!”

Many times, we don’t understand why we have to go through difficult times and hardship. Maybe it’s that, “Other people are going to find healing in your wounds. Your greatest life messages and your most effective ministry will come out of your deepest hurts.” (Rick Warren)

And finally, this pic o’ day reminds me of nonsense that restaurants pull, in their attempt at notice:
